SCUBA diving is great fun and can open the way for you to discover the diversity of the amazing underwater world. PADI Open Water Dive Courses are world recognised and enable you to enjoy the diving environment as a highly trained and safe diver. After completing your diving course with Dive HQ, you'll be a certified PADI Open Water Diver, enabling you to enjoy local and overseas diving through our great dive trips.
We understand you have a busy lifestyle and your leisure time is important to you. Our performance-based training will ensure you'll master all the necessary water skills before you undertake the open water component of your course. This approach will optimise your enjoyment of diving and maximise your progress through the Open Water Course.

Our Open Water Course packages include all instruction, SCUBA equipment (Excluding Mask, Snorkel, Fins, Booties, Gloves and Safety Sausage) and a log book.
All you need be concerned about is enjoying the wonderful experience of scuba diving with the new friends you'll meet along the way.

$799 - PADI Open Water certification.
The first section of the course takes place at Dive HQ Christchurch typically over two full days on Saturday and Sunday. This section covers knowledge development and Confined Water/pool training.
The Open Water section of this course will take place in Wainui (Akaroa), or Lake Coleridge depending on weather conditions. This involves 2 dives per day, transferring your newly attained skills to the open water environment.
$899 - PADI Open Water certification.
The first section of the course runs much the same as our local course structure.
The following weekend will take you to Kaikoura over a Saturday and Sunday. This involves 2 dives per day, transferring your newly attained skills to the open water environment. Kaikoura can hold some great diving, with a wide range of marine life and easy entrances, it's our instructors pick for sure!

If you feel the cold you can also complete your Open Water Course in the comfort of a dry suit for an extra $150. This includes the hire of the suit and an extra lesson for using the suit safely.

Cancellation / Rescheduling
We do not accept cancellations and no refunds will be issued if you decide to pull out prior to commencement of the course or after the course has started, for any reason.
However, your course can be rescheduled. Please refer to our course disclosure material for more details about rescheduling. This includes if you have to withdraw or change dates for any reason including medical reasons, equalising problems, failure to complete the theory or swim test, being under the influence or ANY other reason.
